What time do the ducks race?

The virtual event starts at 1:00 PM EST

How do my ducks get in the water?

Prior to the duck race, volunteers place numbers on every rubber ducks! Each number corresponds to someone who has adopted a duck. On race day, volunteers carry all the ducks to the pool/waterway and then dump them in at the start of the race!

How will I know if my duck wins?

BARC Developmental Services will announce the winners live on Facebook and will contact you using the information you provided with your duck adoption.

Can I adopt a duck for my child?

Duck adoptions must be made in the name of an adult, age 18 or older but you can note with your donation if you would like to acknowledge another person.

What happens to all the ducks after the race?

Volunteers collect the ducks from the event, give them each a warm bath, and rest them until next years race!

Once I adopt a duck, do I get to keep it?

No, your adopted duck will race for your chance to win fabulous prizes. You will not be able to keep the duck after the race.

Do I need to be present to win?

No, this is a VIRTUAL only event due to Covid-19. You can watch safely from anywhere you have Facebook access.

How much do ducks cost?

Each duck adoption is a $5/donation.

How do I know what number is assigned to my duck?

You will receive an email from us within one week of your duck adoption. Numbers are randomly assigned. You will not physically receive a duck.

What are the prizes?

Grand Prize: $1000

1st Prize: $500

2nd Prize: $250

Duck Derby Rules

Rubber ducks will be launched into a local privately owned pool/waterway at approximately 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 4, 2022. This is a virtual only event, If circumstances require the race to be delayed or postponed, it will be rescheduled at a time and place to be determined by the agency. Rain date is currently set for June 5th, 2022.

All ducks entered in the race will be provided by, and shall remain the property of, BARC Developmental Services.​

Numbers will be attached to each duck corresponding to each duck adoption. The person’s or organization’s name that appears on the official adoption receipt matching the number corresponding to the ducks in order of drawing will be awarded the prize. Positive identification will be required to claim any prize won.

Duck adopters must be 18 years or older to participate. If the person whose name is on a winning duck is not more than 18 years old, the prize will be awarded to his or her parent or legal guardian.

The agency shall determine, in its sole discretion, the maximum number of duck adoptions available.

The winning numbers will be available from BARC Developmental Services following the event and will be posted on social media and our website.

BARC Developmental Services will maintain a list of prizes and reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute prizes of comparable value.

Winners will be notified by contact information provided with donation. Prizes must be claimed by June 30th, 2022.

Each winner has sole responsibility for paying any taxes, assessments and similar fees or charges on any prizes won and must authorize the deduction of such taxes, if any, from the prizes to the extent required by law.

By entering, donors release BARC Developmental Services and its officers, directors, members and staff, and other related persons or entities, from any and all liability with respect to prizes, the race, and race day festivities.

Chances of winning depend on the total number of entries.

The agency shall be the final arbiter of the Duck Derby Rules and the Duck Derby Race.

All decisions and interpretations of these Rules and Regulations will be made by the agency and its judgment is final.

Any provision contained in these Rules which is in conflict with any applicable law, ordinance or regulation shall be deemed omitted and the remainder of the Rules shall remain in full force and effect. Questions? Contact us at: 215-792-0800
