BARC Developmental Services was formed in 1951 by a group of parents concerned about the lack of services for their children with intellectual disabilities.  Since then, the mission of the agency has remained unchanged: "To serve and advocate for persons with intellectual disabilities and Autism".  Today, BARC Developmental Services continues to provide advocacy for children and adults to ensure they receive the services and supports they need in order to reach their full potential.  The Advocacy/Human Rights Committee of the agency is comprised of members of the Board of Directors, staff, individuals supported, and community members, many of whom are the parents of a son or daughter with a disability, and know firsthand the myriad of challenges parents face as they navigate the system to secure the services their children require.  The Advocacy/Human Rights Committee meets the first Wednesday of every month.  If you are in need of advocacy services, we want to hear from you! Please call us at 215-794-0800 x 351, or e-mail us at info@barcprograms.net, to discuss your needs.
